How do you feel? Do you feel “right”? Or not? Or can you not put your finger on it, but you know something is wrong with you? Well, it may be that your crown chakra is overactive. What does that actually mean? And how can you make your crown chakra stop being overactive? Well, here is everything you need to know about your crown chakra and how to care for it.

Firstly, what exactly is the “crown chakra”?

There are six other chakras that come before the crown chakra, which are thought to be spinning energy disks located in your spine that correspond to groups of nerves, specific organs, and regions of your body that affect your psychological and physical health: the root, the sacral, the solar plexus, the heart, the throat, and the third eye.

The “crown chakra”, which is also referred to by its various Sanskrit names like Sahasrara, Shunnya, and Niralambapuri, as well as the name “thousand petal lotus chakra”, is the seventh chakra and the highest one, because it is located at the top of your head. The crown chakra has a symbol that consists of a circle and a thousand petals, which resembles the symbol that represents the full moon, and symbolic colors, which are the colors dark purple and white. This chakra manages your self-confidence, spiritual welfare, and state of mindfulness, and also maintains equilibrium between your materialistic self and unworldly self. In addition, the crown chakra is connected to organs in the body, like the pineal gland, the hypothalamus, and the pituitary gland, which are organs related to the nervous system and the endocrine system.

There are some fundamental characteristics of the crown chakra:

  • A healthy crown chakra will let you see the sacredness and beauty in all things around you in your life.
  • When your crown chakra is healthy, your connection to the universe and all living things around you is strong and stable.
  • When your crown chakra is functioning properly, the chakra has the potential to heighten your consciousness, eventually allowing your consciousness to be transcendent.
  • When your crown chakra is at an optimal performance level, the crown chakra can help you attain a state of awareness, which will give you immense lucidity and well-developed intelligence.
  • When you are considering your life and life around you, your crown chakra is responsible for generating feelings of euphoria and tranquility about them.

Now that you know what a crown chakra actually is, now it is time to know how to diagnose an overactive chakra.

How do you know that you have an overactive crown chakra?

First off, since the crown chakra controls the dispersal of energy in the body, you can have an overactive and an underactive crown chakra, so it is very necessary for the crown chakra to maintain the proper levels of energy. If you need to deal with an overactive chakra, then you will need to understand why and how too much energy is flowing to just one area in the body.

What causes an overactive chakra? There are numerous factors that can contribute to an overactive chakra, like life-altering events like the loss of family members, accidents, or disputes with friends. In addition, any actions or aspects in your life that can cause apprehension, uneasiness, and tension can also make your crown chakra malfunction.

You feel and behave differently when your crown chakra is balanced versus when your crown chakra is overactive. When your crown chakra is balanced, you can feel:

  • Well-adjusted and composed
  • Instinctive
  • Spiritually connected
  • In control of your emotions

However, when your crown chakra is overactive, then you can be:

  • Apathetic
  • Lightheaded
  • Depressed
  • Disoriented
  • The symptom of “brain fog
  • Sensitive to light

Also, you may act like a dominating presence and experience a sense of elitism and a feeling of disconnection from your body and worldly matters. In addition, people with overactive crown chakras act secretive, compulsive, disparaging, careless, materialistic, egotistical, sanctimonious, and dishonest. Finally, people with overactive crown chakras that are not given the proper care can eventually experience many serious problems, such as:

  • Split personalities
  • Nightmares
  • Mental imbalances
  • Uncontrolled gullibility
  • Cancer
  • Hysteria
  • Epilepsy
  • Delusions
  • Baldness
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Migraine
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Coma
  • Pituitary problems
  • Amnesia

Now, it is time for you to learn how to readjust your crown chakra.

How do you “cure” your crown chakra?

There are many various methods that can “cure” your overactive crown chakra. Here is a selection of some techniques and procedures.

Letting Go

If you have a more materialistic outlook on life, then you should let it go in order to readjust your crown chakra. One way that can help you let it go is to write down all of your worldly needs and desires, as well as emotionally impactful experiences from your past, so that you are aware about the elements in your life that are preventing you from living a spiritually fulfilled life. This way, you will be able to practice living a life devoid of materialistic things.

Get Outside

Spending a considerable amount of time outdoors and fostering your relationship with nature can also help you nurture your crown chakra so that it is not overactive anymore. One specific activity that can help you overcome your overactive crown chakra is to go hiking up to a higher viewpoint where you can look out over a vast area of nature, like a forest or a grassy meadow. This particular activity will make you realize the breathtaking beauty and grandness of the world you are a part of.

Meditation

Meditation can also help you overcome your overactive crown chakra. There are numerous chakra meditation techniques that you can use to balance your crown chakra, including this one:

  • Step one: Sit either on a chair or on the floor. Make sure that you sit with a good posture, with your shoulders back and your spine straight. Let your muscles relax as you close your eyes and slowly inhale deeply through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth.
  • Step two: Focus your attention on the very top of your head, which is the location of the crown chakra.
  • Step three: Imagine the symbol of the crown chakra, the flower violet, slowly growing on top of your head and spreading rays of warmth and relaxation down to the rest of your body. Let this image marinate in your mind for a few minutes, and let the sensations that are being given off from the image permeate your entire body.
  • Step four: Slowly open your eyes whenever you feel ready to.

Affirmations

Embrace the practice of positive thinking in order to recalibrate your crown chakra. Repeating positive affirmations like these can help to heal any negative programming that may have been implanted in your mind, therefore alleviating your suffering from your overactive crown chakra:

  • I respect the divine within me.
  • I listen to the wisdom of the cosmos.
  • I am open to divine knowledge.
  • I am at peace.
  • I exist in the present moment.

Leave your ego at the door

There is a difference between the concept of ego and the concept of self-confidence. You need to rid yourself of your ego, while securing your self-confidence, in order to have a stabilized and robust crown chakra. Your ego is nurtured by insecurity, so it is necessary for you to accept who you truly are so that you no longer feel insecure.

Seva

Seva basically refers to serving others just for the sake of helping them. If you reach out and help people around you, you can strengthen your relationship to your world, and if you strengthen your relationship to your world, your overactive crown chakra will be healed.

Practice Yoga

Practicing yoga can also contribute to healing your overactive crown chakra. Here are some yoga poses, or asanas, that can stimulate your crown chakra:

  • Vriksasana: This is also called the tree pose, and it is a pose dedicated to restoring and balancing the crown chakra.
  • Ardha Pincha Mayurasana: This is also called the dolphin pose, and it is a pose that strengthens the body’s core, arms, legs and shoulders.
  • Salamba Sirsasana: This is a headstand that reverses the flow of the blood completely and directs it towards the head, so that the organs in the body are given a rest. This pose will reestablish the movement of energy throughout your body, as well as create consciousness and stability in the crown chakra.
  • Padmasana: This is also called the lotus pose and it is a very popular pose among practitioners of yoga because it stabilizes blood pressure, steadies the body, and soothes the mind. It also revitalizes your connection with a higher consciousness.
  • Nadi Shodhan Pranayama: This pose consists of alternating between breathing with one nostril. This technique helps to guide the mind back to the present moment and calms the mind. It also regulates breathing, improves transcendental abilities, and also balances the two hemispheres of the brain.
  • Savasana: This pose is also referred to as the dead body pose. This pose assists in the repairing of tissues and cells in the body and in releasing tension.
