How to Improve Male Fertility

Sperm counts are dropping!

Fertility challenges aren't just limited to women. It's important both women and men check with doctors to see if some simple changes in their lives can improve fertility.

A study, recently published in the journal Human Reproduction Update, shows sperm counts have dropped between 20-50 percent in the last 40 years. However, doctors don't know exactly why this is happening. There's no convincing evidence that it's any one particular thing.

Some doctors believe it's likely a combination of many different factors. The good news is, though, the decline in sperm count is not overly concerning when it comes to fertility, because 50 million sperm is the average sperm count, and it only takes one of those sperm to fertilize an egg.

However, there are ways to improve male fertility.

Living a healthy lifestyle which includes exercise and a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and antioxidants is important. Also, maintaining a healthy weight, not smoking, avoiding drugs, excessive drinking, and having a healthy sexual lifestyle are important factors, too. After all, sexually transmitted infections can certainly have a long lasting effect on sperm and sperm counts.
