The Long Term Effects on Vaping

Vaping has drastically grown in popularity within the past few years, especially in teens. E-cigarettes are battery-powered devices that heat liquids to form vapors that are then inhaled into the lungs. Individuals are able to inhale many different liquid flavors, that usually include nicotine, and even marijuana. Nicotine is the addictive substance that is in most of these flavored liquids that many people easily become addicted to.

Vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes is an unhealthy habit among many people, which can lead to long term health problems, such as lung disease and even cancer.

Addiction to nicotine in vaping is one of the most problematic reasons as to why the popularity of vaping has skyrocketed. Nicotine is highly addictive and it can even affect the development of the brain. Also, continuous use of vaping could potentially lead to cancer because of the unknown substances that are in these liquids. Even e-cigarettes with the label, “nicotine-free”, have been proven to contain nicotine.

Vaping can also increase your risk of lung disease, studies show with results of more than 200 cases of e-cigarette users developing this disease in 22 different states. Many of these people are teens, or young adults have been hospitalized, but the number of affected continues to rise.

Effects of Vaping on Fertility and Pregnancy

Doctors recommend that all pregnant women, or women that are planning one day to become pregnant, should not use e-cigarettes no matter what the substance they are smoking is. Nicotine is proven to affect the development of a baby’s brain and many of their organs. This can cause long term damage, especially when the baby is born.

Everyone knows that smoking cigarettes can harm not only pregnant women and their babies, but many women believe that e-cigarettes are less harmful. Some women believe that because they are trying to wean themselves off of cigarettes and the fact that they are pregnant, that vaping is okay because it doesn’t contain nicotine. While the nicotine value from vaping is at a minimum, it can still have the same harmful effects on a baby that regular cigarettes can have as well.

A new study, that was actually performed on mice, shows that e-cigarette usage before conception is proven to delay implantation of a fertilized embryo to the uterus. It was shown that there was also a significant delay in the mouse becoming pregnant with the first litter. Female offspring also had trouble reaching the preferred weight goal by the eight and a half month mark as well due to the exposure of vaping.

This study was able to show just how crucial vaping is to a woman’s body while she is pregnant or planning to become pregnant. The bad habit not only affects the mother, but the baby as well, and the overall fertility of a woman.

Vaping while pregnant can result in long term health problems with not only the mother, but the baby as well and can even affect women who are trying to conceive.

What You Can Do to Prevent Further Damage to Your Fertility

Doctors recommend that if you are an avid e-cigarette user, that you should quit immediately. While e-cigarettes may seem like a healthier option compared to cigarettes, doctors are urging women that are pregnant, or may become pregnant, to quit as soon as possible.

Vaping can affect the overall health of a baby, which could lead to long term effects within their brain, and it is also detrimental to the health of the mother as well. From the fear of developing lung disease, to the risk of developing cancer from the unknown substances that are in the vape liquids, to infants having health problems because of the nicotine in e-cigarettes, they are proven to not only be bad for women, but to everyone overall.

If a woman is struggling with trying to quit smoking, or even vaping, doctors recommend that they get counseling to prevent further damage to their body, or their babies if they are pregnant, or plan to become pregnant. Vaping is not only a health risk to women, but to everyone because of the many things that doctors don’t know and are still researching.
