It’s always a good time to get into new music, and 2023 has been an amazing year for music so far. Lots of young artists are currently on the rise, and that includes many incredibly talented female rappers.

Supporting new artists is crucial to the music industry, and supporting female rappers is also very important because it’s a very male-dominated genre. If you like Kelle Maize’s music, chances are you might also like some of the rappers listed below!

Keep reading to learn more about seven young female rappers who prove that their age has nothing to do with their level of talent and artistry.

1. Flo Milli

At only twenty-three years of age, Flo Milli is one of the youngest female rappers on the scene, and first began her rise to fame in 2019. Some of her earliest singles went viral on TikTok, and the rest is history.

In fact, her single “In The Party” stemmed its own dance challenge and now has over 100 million streams on Spotify.

Flo Milli is from Mobile, Alabama, and her captivating presence has made her incredibly popular, particularly among members of Gen Z— like herself. Her debut mixtape Ho, Why Is You Here? came out in 2020, and her debut album just last year in 2022.

Flo Milli has also been collaborating with other well-known artists lately, making her even more popular.

Our song recommendation is “Conceited” on Flo Milli’s 2022 album, You Still Here, Ho?

2. Ice Spice

Ice Spice rose to fame more recently, and has since become a household name with her wildly popular music.

From the Bronx and also 23 years old, Ice Spice has had several songs reach the top of the Billboard Top 100 in the last year. Her first big hit was “Munch (Feelin’ U)” in 2022, which went viral on TikTok.

That was only the start of Ice Spice’s music career, however, because she’s put out several other incredibly popular singles since, including collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, and PinkPantheress.

Our song recommendation is currently ranked number one on Ice Spice’s Spotify— the song “Barbie World,” which also features Nicki Minaj and Aqua, from the Barbie Movie soundtrack. This track is still incredibly viral after its release earlier this summer.

3. Doechii

From Tampa, Florida, Doechii released her first single “Girls” in 2016 via SoundCloud. She was a teenager at the time, as the artist today is only 24 years old.

Doechii is an incredibly popular young female rapper, and her career was also boosted by her work going viral on TikTok in the form of her 2021 hit “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake.”

She’s had several hits since, including the more recent “Persuasion,” “Crazy,” and “Stressed.” Doechii also received the Rising Star Award from Billboard Women in Music earlier this year, which was very well deserved.

Our song recommendation is Doechii’s most popular hit to date, “What It Is (Block Boy),” which is constantly used on TikTok. The original track featured Kodak Black, but Doechii also put out a solo version.

4. Monaleo

Monaleo’s debut single “Beating Down Yo Block” went viral on YouTube back in 2021, when the artist would only have been 19. Now 22, she’s still an incredibly popular young female rapper!

Monaleo comes from Houston, Texas, so a lot of her hits have a Southern flare. Her debut album, Where the Flowers Don’t Die, was just released in May, and her future certainly looks bright for her music career with how popular she is at present.

Something that sets Monaleo apart are her creative and energetic music videos. Her music video for the remix of “We Not Humping,” which features Flo Milli, has millions of views on YouTube. The song is also currently ranked number one on her Spotify.

Our song recommendation for Monaleo is “Beating Down Yo Block,” since it’s the hit that got a lot of her fans into her music!

5. Lakeyah

Lakeyah, a 22-year-old artist from Milwaukee, started making music when she was only 15, so she definitely belongs on this list of talented young female rappers.

She began her career as half of the rap duo BTM, or Beyond The Music, and was signed to Quality Control at the age of 18 to begin her solo career.

She’s well-known for collaborating with lots of popular artists, and she definitely goes out of her way to support others in the music industry. Two of her biggest hits are “Female Goat” featuring City Girls and “Mind Yo Business” featuring Latto, released in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

Lakeyah doesn’t just support other artists in music, either. In Spring 2021 she became an ambassador for Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty lingerie line.

Our song recommendation for Lakeyah is her number one Spotify single, “Female Goat.”

6. Latto

One immensely popular young female rapper who happens to have collaborated with other artists on this list is Latto. The 24-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, first rose to fame when she participated in reality TV show The Rap Game in 2016.

In a move that shocked audiences, Latto chose to turn down an offered record deal and make music her own way.

Her decision seems to have more than paid off, with hit singles such as “Bitch from da Souf” and “Big Energy. The latter song reached number three in the Billboard Hot 100.

She has also collaborated with other well-known artists such as Cardi B. and Jung Kook to create massive hits; “Put it On Da Floor Again” and “Seven” respectively.

In 2023, Latto was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. She has performed at the BET awards and on Jimmy Fallon recently, and things look promising for her future music career.

Our song recommendation for Latto is “Big Energy,” her biggest hit from her 2022 studio album 777.

7. GloRilla

Last but never least is GloRilla, a 23-year-old rapper from Memphis, Tennessee. The hit that kickstarted her rise to fame, entitled “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” came out in 2022 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance.

The song also reached number forty-two on the Billboard Hot 100, but that was only the beginning of GloRilla’s music career.

“Tomorrow” was another big hit for her, and the subsequent “Tomorrow 2” featuring Cardi B. peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released last year.

Also in 2022, GloRilla won Best New Hip Hop Artist at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Her debut EP Anyways, Life’s Great came out very recently, so it seems that she will be continuing to find success.

Our song recommendation for GloRilla is “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” which remains one of her biggest hits to date.
